AFJN Welcomes Fall Intern Stefanie
Posted on September 24th, 2012
Welcome to Stefanie Merki! Stefanie is a senior at Trinity Washington University in DC majoring in International Affairs. She moved to the U.S. a year ago from Switzerland. After living in various countries such as Turkey, Guinea Bissau, and Spain her interest in international relations came somewhat naturally. Working at AFJN complements her studies where she chose to concentrate on issues affecting the African continent; Stefanie's mother is from Ghana and she has spent much time there over the years. Last year Stefanie had the opportunity to intern with the Red Cross in Togo on child trafficking issues. The commitment and outreach of a small NGO like AFJN caught Stefanie’s attention and admiration; this inspired her to join the AFJN team for 3 months.
