The following are brief excerpts from Pete's contributions to the newsletter:

“Early in my visit Msgr. Matthew took me to Ggaba National Major Seminary to meet six young men in their final year of theology that will be ordained priests between June and August of this year. The seventh to be ordained is Deacon Seraphine Opio who was at Sacred Heart Seminary while I was there. I was extremely impressed with these young men who are dedicating their lives to serve the Church and the people of God.

Since the LRA attacks stopped in July of last year the people in the villages seemed much more relaxed than what I remember from my last visit. Some of them are beginning to move out of the camps back onto their land and were beginning to plant crops in anticipation of the rainy season beginning in April. I also saw many more animals (cows, goats, pigs, chickens, etc.) than I remember seeing earlier. I imagine this was because the LRA is not stealing them.”

Pete’s international communication continues with reciprocity. Bishop Sabino Odoki, with whom Pete traveled to see confirmations and weddings in Pader and Pajule, Uganda, visited St. Paul and Minneapolis from May 2nd through the 8th.  If you would like to see the newsletter and other information from the Archdiocese of Gulu, Uganda, please visit www.sacredheartseminary.com .
