You can use our kit to guide your prayer and action for northern Uganda! Churches and faith communities across the country can now utilize AFJN's Northern Uganda Faith and Action Kit to pray and act for an end to the ongoing nightmare for children in northern Uganda. The comprehensive tool kit includes ideas for prayer vigils and faith community events, relevant Biblical excerpts and reflections, and resources to facilitate civic action.
 
Historic Northern Uganda Peace Talks to Begin

In the last two months, the politics surrounding northern Uganda have undergone an unexpected whirlwind. This week, peace talks between the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and Government of Uganda are set to begin, mediated by the Government of South Sudan. At the beginning of this month, Ugandan President Museveni announced that he would grant amnesty to LRA leadership if a peace agreement is reached by the deadline of 12 September. Top LRA leadership, though declining to appear at the talks, has accepted the amnesty offer. With the backing of the Southern Sudanese, the scrutiny of the world and the buy-in of key stakeholders, these peace talks may be the best opportunity to end the war in over a decade!

Thousands of Americans Petition Government for Action to End Uganda War

WASHINGTON D.C. – The Africa Faith and Justice Network (AFJN) will today deliver a petition to the U.S. President and key members of Congress demanding that they take the lead in ending the war in northern Uganda. Called “the world’s worst neglected humanitarian crisis” by UN Humanitarian Coordinator Jan Egeland, the war causes an estimated 1,000 deaths every week and has led to the abduction of tens of thousands of children. The petition, signed by 8,744 Americans and distributed by AFJN’s Uganda-CAN campaign, calls on President Bush and the U.S. Congress to make ending the 20 year war in northern Uganda a priority.
