Have your members of Congress worked to end genocide in Darfur? Print E-mail

The Genocide Intervention Network has launched a new initiative: the Darfur Congressional Scorecard. Their website, DarfurScores.org provides a summary of congressional action in an easily accessible format to enable concerned citizens to be more effective advocates for the cause. Detailing the performance of each member of Congress empowers individual Americans to hold Congress accountable for its action to end genocide.

The website also provides an easy method for constituents to contact their members of Congress about their grades. GI-Net has developed follow-up materials which include sample op-ed pieces and local press releases.

The Genocide Intervention Network has already begun to see the potential effectiveness of the Darfur scorecard. More than 100 congressional offices contacted their offices in the days following a pre-release of the grades, either providing them with more information or soliciting a better grade. This proves that Congress pays attention to the anti-genocide movement.
